1440 {33} :: Joy Rising

+ Confession:: I listen to a lot of talk radio. A.Lot. And yesterday, I heard an interview with Oprah, who described the flash mob at her 24th season kick-off party in Chicago as “joy rising”.

Joy Rising.
+ I love the idea of that, of joy rising. Lifting up and becoming louder. I feel it in tender moments like this. When I’m cooking dinner in my kitchen and everything begins to glow. I glance out the window and see this. Something that isn’t mine. Something that is fleeting. Something that I can’t hold or contain or preserve {except, of course, by photographing}. It’s a gift. A reminder to check, and be grateful.
+ And as I stand there watching the subtle changes displayed before me, giving thanks for the many gifts in my life, I feel the things that weigh me down melt away. Because joy can’t rise under the restraint of things that weigh us down.

There’s freedom there, in this space where joy rises. And I decide to commit to it.

What brings you joy?

What brought you joy today?

So glad you are here!

    Tracey of Haiku.You.Do - Very similar things…fleeting, unexpected things that make me smile. The most recent thing was seeing a flock of 5-6 red winged black birds splashing and bathing in a puddle on a farmer’s barren field.
