Really appreciated your wisdom in this post. I’m beginning my first-time journey into parenting a (very strong-willed) toddler, and somedays I can’t wait for her to grow up and grow out of this stage. It’s good to remember that someday I will probably yearn for these days (as hard as they are) and wish I could see her in all hey baby-ness again. Your family is beautiful, thank you for sharing.

Wearing sunscreen? ***** DOUBLE-DOG DARE: Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Daily… even if you’re not planning on being in the sun. You get tons of exposure in your car and just being out and about.

Okay, I will admit that I do not usually wear sunscreen. I HATE the feel of it. Hate hate hate. I will also say that I spend my time inside, literally. Working from home, most days I don’t leave this house, and if I do it is when the sun has already gone down. No driving around in the sun for me, especially in the summer. My blinds are closed, no light gets in here. So I know it is a huge sin to go without sunscreen, but I literally get almost no exposure… and if I DO… I usually remember to put some on before I go. Forgive me?
I do NOW…on my face…but really I never wore it growing up and I was a SWIMMER so I figure the odds are already against me. I wear it on my face for cosmetic purposes….me no likey wrinkles.

Yes ma’m! I wear it daily in my Mary Kay moisturizer! Love that stuff! I do forget to put it on when I run…and I need to do better. Thanks for the reminder!!

Soo timely – have literally just finished watching a documentary on this, just 10 minutes ago! Apparently we in the Southern Hemisphere are exposed to 40% more UV light than you guys at the same latitude on the Northern side of the equator! I already have pigmentation damage to my face after a childhood spend cooking in the hot, hot Western Australian sun.
I am a fanatic…I think I wore so much last year that I ended up being low in Vitamin D…I guess there is a balance.
