Isis Meet our sweet Isis, named after the goddess “Protector of Children”, errr… “Afraid of Own Shadow”.  But it’s okay; she makes up in love what she lacks in courage. And intelligence. She’s a little over three years, and she’s a full bred brindle boxer. Who thinks she’s a princess. You can tell on account […]

wow.
those are some adorable dogs.
I have a yorkie. Worthless.
WORTHLESS I SAY!
Never get a small dog. Derrick talked me into it. It wasn’t hard, because she was an adorable puppy.

Ashley @ Ramblings and Photos - July 31, 2010 - 9:44 pm

What sweet pictures – I love your story behind each one of the.

ELK - August 1, 2010 - 2:30 am

the tears crest and fall as i gaze upon your very special 4 legged ones.. i am so happy that the were in the parade..give them a big kiss from me..you are such a stunning artist with the camera ..and words that touch my heart …blessings …

Kellee - August 1, 2010 - 4:39 am

Oh I do just love this. I remember your post about Ciba, and how it touched my soul. I’m glad to have met your other family members now, as well. :) I really wanted to be part of the pet parade, but my Ruby decided she did NOT want to participate with me. Silly dog. :)

Gayle - August 2, 2010 - 12:17 am

Awww, I loved reading about your canine sweeties!

an open letter to my peeps

You seem stressed… Is there something I can do? I know you didn’t ask for advice, but… I’ve been there, {done that}. I know stuff. And I’m here to tell ya, even when life is at it’s best, it’s hard. Ya gotta get over that… accept it, then get on with the living of it, […]

“…get on with the living of it.” Love this post, these pictures, this truth. Twenty years, or twenty-five truly does pass in a heartbeat. Found you on imperfect prose–glad I stopped by.

Claudia - July 29, 2010 - 3:06 pm

love the picture for …Ya gotta get over that…that’s a perfect fit – just jump!

Melissa | Madabella: made beautiful - July 29, 2010 - 3:30 pm

beautiful photographs and i needed this message today!

joann - July 29, 2010 - 3:56 pm

this is so beautiful and encouraging to me. We are trying to sell our house, we are trying to buy another one, hoping the stars align so we aren’t stuck with TWO houses, and then there are two little kids here…crazy comes in two I guess.
This is a wonderful post, it made my morning.

Kellee - July 29, 2010 - 4:46 pm

So beautiful, Patty, and so true. My favorite quote recently has been, “Be not so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”

Ashley @ Ramblings and Photos - July 29, 2010 - 5:51 pm

Thank you so much for sharing this letter and photos. You make me smile.

in the hush of the moon - July 29, 2010 - 7:57 pm

it would seem all of the imperfect posts are making me cry today, this one the hardest so far… the other day i was running, and my throat seized as i thought of all of the moments i’d been missing with my son, and how fast he was fleeing into grown-up. thank you for putting life into perspective for me today. thank you so much for linking up, writer-friend. xo

Susan - July 29, 2010 - 8:10 pm

Love this!!! Patty, you need to put all of these posts and pictures in a book for your kids! They will love it!!
Hugs!

sigh.

all of these photos are phenomenal.
for whatever reason the one of the dark lake water, feet up on a dive in…
that is so so everything.

and thanks to your family.

they light my day.

Kim - July 29, 2010 - 10:48 pm

Thanks a lot! ( for making me get off the computer and speak to my husband). Twenty years have passed and my son is all grown up (physically anyway). So sad about all the lost time, but so eager to see where he ends up.

S. Etole - July 30, 2010 - 12:37 am

your series of photos says this so well … how quickly it goes by

Bethany Ann - July 30, 2010 - 2:30 am

sheesh — those photos were so beautifully distracting, i had to go back and read your words over again! and they were good, too!

Julie @ SweetPeanuts - July 30, 2010 - 4:17 am

Really appreciated your wisdom in this post. I’m beginning my first-time journey into parenting a (very strong-willed) toddler, and somedays I can’t wait for her to grow up and grow out of this stage. It’s good to remember that someday I will probably yearn for these days (as hard as they are) and wish I could see her in all hey baby-ness again. Your family is beautiful, thank you for sharing.

Cate - July 30, 2010 - 4:20 am

So, so true!

Robyn - July 30, 2010 - 12:35 pm

Ok, I thought I was the only one who would tear up at a blog post until I read the rest. Don’t tell your hubby that, I have an image to protect at work. You are very blessed, and thanks for pointing out and reminding me what a blessing a good husband is. We (I) need to take more time to put thoughts down on (blog paper) and let him (and the world) know.

restoring jane: a friendly reminder

Wearing sunscreen? ***** DOUBLE-DOG DARE:  Wear it! Wear it! Wear it! Daily… even if you’re not planning on being in the sun. You get tons of exposure in your car and just being out and about.

Kellee - July 26, 2010 - 1:52 pm

Okay, I will admit that I do not usually wear sunscreen. I HATE the feel of it. Hate hate hate. I will also say that I spend my time inside, literally. Working from home, most days I don’t leave this house, and if I do it is when the sun has already gone down. No driving around in the sun for me, especially in the summer. My blinds are closed, no light gets in here. So I know it is a huge sin to go without sunscreen, but I literally get almost no exposure… and if I DO… I usually remember to put some on before I go. Forgive me? :)

joann - July 26, 2010 - 2:49 pm

I do NOW…on my face…but really I never wore it growing up and I was a SWIMMER so I figure the odds are already against me. I wear it on my face for cosmetic purposes….me no likey wrinkles.
I know.
I KNOW!

Susan - July 26, 2010 - 5:52 pm

Yes ma’m! I wear it daily in my Mary Kay moisturizer! Love that stuff! I do forget to put it on when I run…and I need to do better. Thanks for the reminder!!
Hugs!
Susan

cathy - July 27, 2010 - 1:16 am

I’m in anchorage! more ltr. great trip. no need for sunscreen (rain!) time for long hot shower! xoxo

Cate - July 27, 2010 - 8:59 am

Soo timely – have literally just finished watching a documentary on this, just 10 minutes ago! Apparently we in the Southern Hemisphere are exposed to 40% more UV light than you guys at the same latitude on the Northern side of the equator! I already have pigmentation damage to my face after a childhood spend cooking in the hot, hot Western Australian sun.

imoomie - July 28, 2010 - 2:08 am

I am a fanatic…I think I wore so much last year that I ended up being low in Vitamin D…I guess there is a balance.
