A Golden Tree

We couldn’t stop laughing this morning as we remembered the first time he said I love you, in a Wendy’s restaurant, only three weeks after we met, as I choked down a salad. And said nothing. And he thought this was especially funny, considering the morning after we first met I told my mother, I […]

Gorgeous summary
of true love : ) I was the
first to profess love to my
hubby, who answered,
“I really, really LIKE you,
too!” The “I love you”
wasn’t too far behind, but
I still razz him to this day
about his response to my
tender-hearted whisper!

Stunning photo and colors and such a sweet story. I knew I was going to marry my husband the moment I saw him from across the room. It took him a lot longer to figure it out!

Pieces of Sunshine - December 4, 2011 - 3:39 am

Gorgeous photos and memories and way of life.

In the front seat of my car

We sit here, in the front seat of the car, entertaining each other while waiting for our boys. In a few short hours, she will be on stage once again, dancing her heart out in another production of the Nutcracker. Her nervousness shows in her giggles and giddiness, {but maybe only to me… I know […]

I am popping over from Privet and Holly.

I like the way you honor the everyday moments with your daughter. You will always be glad that you enjoyed them.

Fondly,
Glenda

Beth - November 28, 2011 - 11:00 am

This is such a gorgeous post.
I wonder if I will be writing a similar post in a few years time. I have a nine year old who is currently loving her ballet and is so desperate to get her pointe shoes. We try and watch either The Nutcracker or Swan Lake every Christmas. Congratulations to your beautiful daughter.
x
PS I have discovered your blog via Suzanne at Privet and Holly.

Stephanie - November 28, 2011 - 11:57 am

Little tears as I read this, for I have a daughter about that same age and ask myself the same questions…when did all of this happen? It goes by quickly!

Marty - November 28, 2011 - 1:03 pm

So sweet and a good reminder to take the time to be thankful for the “simple” things in life. Pretty pictures of a beautiful “ballerina”.

Sandra - November 28, 2011 - 1:11 pm

She is so beautiful Patty..just like her Mom! I love those one to one moments with my girls when we just get silly and giggle together.

Jessica Washburn @ runningtobeskinny.com - November 28, 2011 - 7:06 pm

I was feeling the same way with Sophia this morning at 4 a.m. when she had a bad dream and I was secretly glad she was snuggled up next to me. We are so blessed to be mom’s to these beautiful girls. Love the pics, she’s gorgeous. :) Jess

Sylvia - November 29, 2011 - 12:33 am

It’s a precious , tender moment …so well described ! I do believe that such simple joys are the moments that make up a meaningful life and they deserved our full attention …Your daughter is beautiful as is your love for her !

Suzanne - November 29, 2011 - 11:11 pm

I have such similar
thoughts about my
kids, daily, and find
myself wishing that
I’d really “seen” them
more, as they were
at each stage. Instead,
when I think of them,
it’s a melding of all
the “thems” that have
come before : ) Love
your daughter’s passion
and confidence for dance.
I’m thinking she is a
7th grader, like my son.
My daughter’s passion
is for art and I love to
hear her enthusiasm in
these same type of small
moments. Yes, this is the
stuff life is truly made of!
Thank you for all of your
beautiful comments and
for joining in around the
virtual water cooler, Patty!

xx Suzanne

PS: Yowzer, she’s a beauty, too!

Lisa - November 30, 2011 - 3:40 am

12 year olds. Still our little girls. Yet looking all grown up. Making us see time flash forward and back and present day again. There is something about this week that has us unwrapping the same gift. That’s so cool!

Felicity - November 30, 2011 - 5:52 am

How wonderful to have found you via Suzanne’s space “Privet & Holly”.
I just know I’m going to enjoy spending time here.

Happy day!

How beautiful your daughter is and what confidence you have instilled. But most of all how precious that you are able to capture, live in and document these irreplaceable moments in time.

Traci - November 30, 2011 - 4:36 pm

Hi Patricia, thanks for sharing this moment. I relate, well to this post my eldest is 15!. But I think savoring these moments does slow them just enough cause a memory impression in our hearts.

Blooming Rose Musings - December 5, 2011 - 1:31 am

Your daughter is so beautiful and lovely. I love that you shared these very precious moments. You have instilled a confidence in her that will bless her for a lifetime. Beautiful post.
I am visiting from Privet and Holly. You know, I thought I left you a comment several days ago but I must have viewed your post from work and wasn’t able to leave the comment. I’m so glad I came back because this is a wonderful post. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

gratitude

I take the winding, ribbon road through the mountains, through the woods and past the farmers’ fields, toward home. The morning sun is low and sets everything aglow. I don’t know what it is about this morning light that washes everything in golden contentment, but I love it. It warms me and settles me and […]

Patty…I just love reading your blog. You inspire me so much! You are a beautiful person, Patty! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Kaye Swain - November 22, 2011 - 4:18 pm

What gorgeous photos – the last and lovely hurrah of a sweet autumn – most of our fall foliage is gone and today’s rain and wind storm will probably finish them off. So I’m grateful for another sweet thrill in the lovely colors, and for great food for thought in your sweet words of encouragement and inspiration. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Mindy - November 22, 2011 - 4:46 pm

Oh how magnificent…it is the little things that often bring the greatest joy and opens me to gratitude too Patty! Your photos are exquisite, you have truly learned perfected the art of capturing the light. I started the gratitude quilt late this year, but if you want to share a few of your “gratitudes” please drop by and leave a message on my blog or send me an email by Tuesday at midnight…I’d love to have you join in again this year:-)

Murmuration

Birds do it. Insects do it. Fish do it. Animals do it. People do it, too. Fight to be in, to look alike, to flock together, to move in sync with others, seeking {the sensation of} sanctuary. Feeling the beat of neighbors’ wings, moving in rhythm, swarming. A scientific phenomenon, nature, mathematical chaos… Attempting sameness, […]

Wow, do you know how timely this was, on the morning I’m telling myself all the reasons I should NOT go to Blissdom? Will I fit in, will I have the right clothes, my blog is so boring, I can’t take a decent picture, blah blah blah. All that sounds so ridiculous, I know, and has very little to do with this post (to you, maybe). LOL

Southern Gal - November 17, 2011 - 2:41 pm

I love your words here, Patty. I can relate with Kim. We all have those thoughts and insecurities when all we crave is the company.

Have you seen this murmuration video? http://vimeo.com/31158841
I saw it two weeks ago and it makes me praise God every time I see it.

Jessica - November 17, 2011 - 6:08 pm

I love this post. Your pictures are so great and that video and music is making me want to drift off into a very deep sleep. I’m as relaxed as if I just got a massage. LOL. :)

Beautiful words. Can’t wait for Blissdom roomie!!

Thank you! Added to my bucket list. Pictures are amazing. Definitely a good excuse to get that camera I’ve been eyeing forever.

Southern Gal - November 8, 2011 - 12:01 pm

What a great anniversary trip! That fountain picture is breathtaking. I love it. I am impressed with all those great angles. I’m definitely not a photographer. I’m too concerned with people looking at me with my camera. It doesn’t help that my family collectively rolls their eyes when I get my camera out at restaurants and such. Ha!

emily - November 8, 2011 - 12:21 pm

What a splendid trip! That looks like such a relaxing and welcoming place to spend time! Thanks for sharing!
