My son enjoys that television show, How I Met Your Mother. We don’t get to watch a lot of TV around here, but he had it on yesterday and as I was wandering through the rooms, I could hear the narrator telling his story. He kept backing up, saying things like, In order for you to...

Well said. And what are those berry things? We have them too.
Amen to your post here. I love the pictures you chose to go with your insightful words. I was just listening to a radio program by David Jeremiah who did a grand job using as Esther as the perfect example of God’s plan….beginning all the way back to when she was left as an orphan. The ebbs and flows of life are already written and the rocks and branches we bump against are, as you so wonderfully wrote here, are all a part of the big picture.
I love this post. I’m sitting here thinking of a million ‘what if’s’. What if Kimball hadn’t dropped his brother off at BYU last month, would we still end up with this major life change? And on and on…
So, you’ll have to follow me back on twitter. You’ll never guess what I’m back doing again…especially since I swore it off to you last week on the phone. Oh and, I’ve changed the name and blog address (explanation on today’s post).
I just can’t quit you! LOL.
The new address is sweatismysanity.com

Lovely series of these chokecherries and a great illustration of thinking about the big picture.

My daughter had a friend spend the night earlier this summer. This girl was visiting a friend in our area, and isn’t someone who is usually around my family. Her manners were a little less than par, and I noticed that the later the night got, the more my daughter began to adopt some of...

That first shot is incredibly beautiful! The colour is wonderful and you used the sunset perfectly to create a fabulous image!
Love this story Patty..It is something that I feel very strongly about and talk to my girls about often. I try to teach them to be the light.
So true, Patty!!! Love what you told your daughter…to be the good example. Your photos are exquisite!
“It’s important to be good examples to others, but it’s also important to surround yourself with people who make you want to be better.” This is so very true!

WOW! That first shot is absolutely stunning!
what a great lesson for us all. it is so important to surround ourselves with positive people who encourage us to be better. then we will do better. another great post.
Lovely shots, and perfect words. Something to always remember. Joining you from commual global.
True true… if people aren’t helping to make you shine, then get around people who do. Love the shot.. I always enjoy getting down to earth to capture the beauty we don’t normally notice.
Your pictures are wonderful, and your words are very true. Beautiful post all around.
So true and good for you Mama for taking the reigns and addressing the situation.
I love the first image. So neat.
It is hard when you try to be the upbeat and positive person, and you sit and wait for the invitation to lucy or to just have a cup of coffee and to sit and talk and that invitation never comes. Maybe some of these negative people have experienced that too ad it has finally worn them down. Sometimes it is hard to face the world when you are made to feel like you are not worth being around.
Such fantastic advice. We are easily influenced, aren’t we? Something to remember from both sides of the equation.
That first photo is a stunner.
Stunning! Good for you for standing up to the whole issue!
oh wow that’s STUNNING! I’m in love with that first shot! great composition and light!
I have to agree and be amazed at your Mum’s wisdom, and this never goes old “birds of the same feather”… It takes only a moment to rationalize what we absorb, and takes some time to straighten out our actions.
XoXo
Very good post (very sound advice)… and wow, those photos are so lovely!

One other thing about the 16 block gallery on Instagram… You can create a space to make a themed gallery by tagging your photos with a unique tag-one that you think no one else will use. {So for the above, I could have tagged each of those photos “#px24tree”… It’s highly unlikely anyone else will...

Love the IG photos! And the kidnapping is great!
Your 16-block…very cool; love the idea of a theme.
And your daughter is obviously creative, like you.
I love it!!
I am obsessed with Instagram and I love making collages. I too have created my own hashtag themes which no one else will use (ones for my brids, flowers, macro, buildings, scenery). It gives me quick acess to certain images from my gallery with out going through the 1000+ images I now have there.
I linked up my sunset shots from our beach trip.
I wish I had a smart phone so I could use instagram. Looks like so much fun.
Oh I love the block of photos. I really think the t-shirt the most it is very creative. B

A single solitary leaf drifted down in front of me. Perfectly petite and dainty, it was vibrant red, as if to scream Look at me! And I thought, Could it be that time already? Are the seasons changing again? * I held his coffee until he put the car in gear and pulled forward. We drove...

This is really a lovely post. I feel exactly the same right now, lift always seems to be shifting beneath my feet. But, I look forward to the seasons as they change!
Such a beautiful post! Images and words coming together in perfect harmony!
Coming home from vacation, starting school yesterday, and trying to adjust my mind around the fact that summer is over has me in limbo. And here where we live it could be October before coolness sets in.
I love the shots of the signs of fall in your part of the world.
These images really have a hint of autumn about them

A new season for me…

Oh I love how you describe the great images but I must admit in my mind the image pales in comparison to your incredible shots. Fantastic writing and photos. B
Lovely.
I love how you likened the new season coming with the new season in your life. Beautiful. As are your photos.
Even though it’s still fairly hot here (90s yesterday,) there is a change I can feel coming. You captured this feeling very nicely in your post.
You have a talent for finding the most perfectly gorgeous light! Beautiful pictures again!
This is absolutely gorgeous!! Beautifully written and such wonderful images.
Your photograph is beautiful. Today I saw a wooly bear with NO black…brrrrr, means we’re in for a long, cold, snowy winter.
Visiting via Rural Thursday Blog hop.
That is so beautiful….
Glad to see you there.
Gorgeous pictures! Each one is more stunning than the last! The color of those leaves are just amazing! There is something about that last shot, though, that I am drawn to!
