1440 {20} :: moving on

I love the fall…. maybe even more than spring. But this year, I’m ready to move on… Ready to begin fully celebrating Christmas and the Christmas season. Decorating and gifting and holiday baking. Maybe even some entertaining, if we can manage it.  What I’m truly looking forward to, though, is slowing down, breathing in, giving thanks, enjoying […]

A lovely sentiment…and I’m ready, too! :)

Stephanie - November 30, 2012 - 11:57 am

I remember long ago a German friend of mine saying he loved the time from Thanksgiving to New Year’s most because ‘everything slows down’. I like to get my shopping done fairly early so that I can concentrate on decorating, and music, and festivities, myself.

That first image…oh, my goodness! Just stunning!

Amy @ The Avery House - November 30, 2012 - 12:47 pm

Hi there sweet friend! I am getting back out into the blog world and your blog home is the first place where I am linking up again. As always I find true inspiration in the images that you capture through photography as well as the words you write to accompany them. They are the perfect pairing like a good book and a cup of coffee on a cold winter’s day. I look forward to catching up with you. In the mean time, I wish you peaceful and blessed moments during the season we are approaching.

Danielle - November 30, 2012 - 1:01 pm

Learning how to capture the ‘blue hour’ was, what I feel, my most beautiful shot of the week. I love what you wrote about ‘holiday homecoming’…that is exactly how I view the month of December. I really cut back and sit and ‘breathe’ during that month…unlike many others..it is my month to just ‘be’.

becky - November 30, 2012 - 1:08 pm

me too…can hardly wait until i can. hope you are doing good girlie!

Tiaras & Tantrums - November 30, 2012 - 1:54 pm

You and I have the same though process this morning as we are both thankful for this approaching season!

Mona - November 30, 2012 - 5:29 pm

Such beautiful shots! Come link up!

Stephanie

Outside, the gray clouds opened and silver rain poured down, washing color away. It was February, and the grass was dead, void of green, sharp and brittle. The cement sidewalk, like a gray path through death, lead right to her house. Leafless trees stood guard, dressed in gnarly bark the color of smoke. Everything blended […]

Oh, Patty. You are so loved.
And I get this. I so do.
Praying and loving and holding you always.

And why is that during these times in life when we need to avoid those carbs and sweets seems to be just when we crave them? I, too, am avoiding hormones, but have found some peace and joy through soy:). I wish I were more like Stephanie, but often sit and wonder about others rather than just asking.

Tamar Strauss-Benjamin - November 30, 2012 - 1:04 am

It’s all about the bokeh

As we waited for the Nutcracker to start, we wondered the streets of Gatlinburg. If ever you want to do some people watching, this.is.the.place. It’s also very beautiful in the winter, and if it happens to snow, it’s magical. It’s like a crazy German mountain village, boardwalk, festive type atmosphere. With bunches of people, holiday […]

I’m happy to hear you are exposing your boys to the arts – especially dance – so many think this meant for females alone – not true!

1440 {19} :: From the Kettle to the Fire

*Apologies for this late posting; my internet was down. Again. :/  I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful day together yesterday. It was just my immediate family here, and it was quietly nice.I cooked and baked all day, and it was anything BUT paleo, but it was full of holiday tradition. Several times […]

Great pics. I love the first santa picture!

Jessica@SweatIsMySanity - November 24, 2012 - 5:34 am

Sophia and I just got back from the Nutcracker and for the first time in 4 times going, I was totally disappointed. Maybe it was a mistake to go opening night since they hadn’t had a chance to get down just right or maybe it was our super close seats, but there were a lot of mistakes. I know I told you the other day I saw no reason to spend the big money to go down to Phoenix but I think next year we will. I wish I could watch Lexi perform, I thought of her as I watched the dancers tonight. I’m sure she rocked it. xo, Jess

Thanks Giving

I am as enamored with autumn leaves, as I am with spring blossoms. Each one, delicate, detailed, defined. Different. And beautiful. How easy it would be to walk by, unnoticed. Unblessed by their existence. Just like many of the other abundant little gifts we are given. * “Gratitude, like faith, is a muscle. The more you use it, […]
