I’m going to let
that one sink in
and tomorrow,
will let it float
back up and lift
my heart up as
my feet first hit
the floor.

Gorgeous photo!

Garry Ladouceur - February 7, 2012 - 8:02 pm

I enjoy the entire quotation by Goethe..

“Nothing is worth more than this day. You cannot relive yesterday. Tomorrow is still beyond your reach”

The clouds are at once violent and at another promising. One can never be sure.

Barbara - February 7, 2012 - 8:57 pm

That light is just gorgeous…

lisa - February 8, 2012 - 12:35 am

Wow! From the thumbnail section, I thought this was a painting. And when I clicked and saw the large version … it still looks like an abstract painting by one of the masters. Gorgeous!

Pieces of Sunshine - February 5, 2012 - 9:30 am

I love the last two. The closer we look the more beauty there is in life.

I turned 47 Saturday. My family planned a beautiful celebration at a restaurant at the top of Beaver Creek Mountain in Colorado. A snowcat-drawn sleigh pulled us through the chilly night to an elevation of 9,788 feet. The cat kicked up snow, so as we sat huddled close to each other and wrapped in big […]

Happy Birthday! Looks like you had an amazing weekend.

Amy Avery - January 17, 2012 - 12:20 pm

Happy Birthday Patty!!! I am so glad you had such a wonderful celebration of you! You are a beautiful lady both inside and out and 47 never looked better! I wish you a blessed and happy year ahead and many more days of skiing, photography, prose, quality time with family and friends and all the things that make your heart sing. xoxo

Lori - January 17, 2012 - 1:15 pm

Someone has some beautiful handwriting and on a plate no less! I love the shot of the Aspens!

Dawn - January 17, 2012 - 1:35 pm

Happy Birthday lady! You are a wonderful person and I love your post. It really got me today, my birthday is Thursday and I will be 42 and for the past week I have been evaluating my life in the same way. In what way can I be a better person and have I done everything I can for my children to enriche their lives. Have I taught them to have empathy and love for others. Have I taught them to care for those that are not easy to care for, I guess we will just have to wait and see. I feel like that is the only way we can progress, thinking of how we can be better, and what we can do to change and changing is hard, the older we get, but if we are willing to try we can all do better.

Mrs. Zoom - January 17, 2012 - 1:35 pm

Great collection of photos. Love the one of the Aspens the best!

Life with Kaishon - January 17, 2012 - 2:49 pm

Happy Birthday : ) I love your cake. SO pretty. I also love that you are teaching your children the most important things about life : ). You are a great Mama.

Tori Johnson - January 17, 2012 - 4:18 pm

So beautiful Patty!!
Happy Birthday pretty lady!

Evelyn in Oregon - January 17, 2012 - 5:57 pm

For some reason, your post made me very emotional! Your photos are absolutely wonderful…but your self-reflection is even more wonderful to me. I turned 69 in late December, and I’m not sure I’ve asked myself any of those questions. Of course, our two sons flew the nest more than 10 years ago (and they are doing well); I’ve been retired for nearly 10 years and my younger husband is still working. 😉 Thank you for inspiration today—in photographs and words. BTW…I’m not sure there’s a tree that thrills me as much as an aspen.

Amy Sullivan - January 17, 2012 - 6:24 pm

Happy, happy birthday!

Oh, good ‘ol Beaver Creek. I miss living in Colorado, yes I do!

{12} The Gift of Time

Do you remember, as a child, on the last day of school, summer stretched out a lifetime before you? The days were long, filled with adventures, and still, there were moments when you wondered, What should I do next? Time moves so quickly now I barely have enough of it to breathe. I hold up […]

A Golden Tree

We couldn’t stop laughing this morning as we remembered the first time he said I love you, in a Wendy’s restaurant, only three weeks after we met, as I choked down a salad. And said nothing. And he thought this was especially funny, considering the morning after we first met I told my mother, I […]

Gorgeous summary
of true love : ) I was the
first to profess love to my
hubby, who answered,
“I really, really LIKE you,
too!” The “I love you”
wasn’t too far behind, but
I still razz him to this day
about his response to my
tender-hearted whisper!
