diptych {faceless portrait}

Mine is on top; Cathy’s is on the bottom. Our theme: Faceless Portraits ***** It figures… We would both pick pictures of our children. Of course! ***** I had every intention of taking a picture of moi, but as I put yesterday’s post together, and saw all those faceless shots of my daughter and spoke […]

wow…our athletes in action :) love the whole idea of faceless portrait…we could do it for a month and be dazzled every time.

Kellee - September 26, 2010 - 3:10 pm

I think you ladies had a great theme, and I love the photos you came up with!! :)

Cate - September 26, 2010 - 11:39 pm

deb @ talk at the table - September 27, 2010 - 4:22 pm

they are both fabulous.

and Patty, I hope she always feels free to dance. We all should.

diptych {numbers}

Cathy’s on top, mine on the bottom. Our theme is {numbers} ***** Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Wooosh! Baby’s cry pierces dark. Fear, uncertainty, fatigue, new. Soft, warm flesh. Fingers grasp. Breath on neck. Weight on body, two hearts beat. Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Wooosh! First bite, first smile. First words, first steps. Rotund belly, robust bottom. Ten fingers, ten […]

cathy - September 4, 2010 - 11:32 am

ditto joann :)

Cate - September 4, 2010 - 4:21 pm

So heart-achingly true!
Gorgeous Patty!

Alexis @ Finding Prose - September 5, 2010 - 6:06 am

This was lovely. The first stanza brought back memories of when my babies were small ones and that is all so familiar, breath on the neck and two hearts beating. You wrote this so beautifully!
I’ve got baby fever a-gain!

In time, I’ll know this all. . .

Kellee - September 6, 2010 - 4:45 pm

I really love this. Time too often speeds by. Beautiful images you both came up with.

team-up thursday on friday

{Just to keep it silly on Fridays around here… } Team-up Thursday. Mine is on the left; Cathy’s is on the right. Our theme is “Organization” ****** I’m coming out of the closet… Confession: I am NOT a good housekeeper. But I do have some Obsessive-Compulsive tendencies. Like hanging like-colored clothing together. Blending in shades […]

Your closet looks like artwork. I’ve never thought to take pictures of mine. You asked if I used a mono or tripod on my snail shot. Nope…just a macro lens.

Cathy - August 20, 2010 - 2:37 pm

but of course your clothes are wonderfully bright and full of energy! i could snatch up each and every sweater (except the beaded one). that bathroom photo is the best…isn’t that totally our lives in this season?! (fyi you should have seen my kitchen an hour ago…i was at the grocery at 8 am to race home and cook a trucker breakfast for our new football player before his scrimmage this afternoon. SCARY!)

Kellee - August 20, 2010 - 3:52 pm

I am SO unorganized. But I am SO with you on that one. There are a few things that are always in order. My hundreds of DVDs are always in alphabetical order – by title. Some people call this crazy, I call this, “How can you expect to ever find anything in hundreds of dvds if they’re not in order?”

Also, I color coordinate my closet as well, just as you do. It just looks nice! :)

And my yarn is always caked and cataloged and put together nicely. I might have 10 1-foot piles of paper in my office (literally), but my yarn and closet are beautiful. :)

elk - August 24, 2010 - 4:06 am

wow the bright colors i loved the series of photos …i tend to be the opposite …keep house tidy, let closet go…I was in retail for years so it is a back lash I guess…

diptych {negative space}

Mine on top, Cathy’s on the bottom. If you haven’t visited Cathy’s blog, Breathless Expectation, you really should. She’s recounting her mission experience in Alaska, and it’s amazing. ***** It’s been a CRAZY first week back to school… New schools, {new school systems}… New friends, new activities… Paperwork, fees, supplies… Exciting and exhausting at the […]

love your flower and the negative space makes the photo AMAZING! I think it’s funny how I had no idea what negative space was when I took this photo at our son’s first communion, but I knew I wanted to try to capture my in-laws in the background. Our son was getting impatient with me, but had to agree when he saw the photo that it was cool :)

elk - August 12, 2010 - 2:17 pm

they belong together … the two images match in a artistic way AND you and your camera…

Ashley @ Ramblings and Photos - August 12, 2010 - 2:27 pm

I’m off to visit Cathy’s blog now and I love negative space. I once took a graphic design class that really opened my eyes to negative space before I went into photography. That space allows for creativity to feel the space and to feel the life that was in the photo. Great shot.

joann - August 12, 2010 - 3:16 pm

I love that painterly effect of the negative space in your photo…oh don’t I sound smart? Well, I do.
I think this is really positive space, because it’s gorgeous…how can it be negative? hehe. Really the english language is so weird.

sarah - August 12, 2010 - 6:34 pm

your photographs are truly beautiful!

Ruth - August 12, 2010 - 8:00 pm

Love your photo. Thanks for the link about negative space. Cathy’s mission trip is pretty amazing. I visited her blog last week after yours.

Cate - August 12, 2010 - 8:06 pm

These are gorgeous. And all the best for the frantic settling back into school routines! That all happens for us in late January which is the beginning of our school year here.

Kellee - August 14, 2010 - 5:39 pm

You both did a wonderful job. :)

diptych {backyard}

Top: ┬áCathy @ Breathless Expectation Bottom: Me! ***** I thought about using THIS photo for {backyard}… It’s me on my back porch wearing the flip-flops that Cathy sent… …Reading the magazine she sent, too. Oh, and this cute apron? She got me this, too, in a give-away blog contest. She’s lucky, and generous, so I’m […]

Kim - August 5, 2010 - 11:53 pm

Thanks for stopping by a couple of weeks ago to A Creative Spirit… BEAUTIFUL pictures today on your post.. Took me to a happy place…. and I could NEVER cook in that apron…..:o)

Kim - August 6, 2010 - 12:21 am

Love the flops (and the photo). It’s my favorite here. I don’t have a thing for feet, I just happen to like this because it reminds me of days I spend on the porch with a good book and a glass of iced tea.
Curious about the tea :)

Cathy - August 6, 2010 - 12:46 am

XOXOXOXOXO, my wonderful friend.

Ruth - August 6, 2010 - 7:46 pm

How sweet it is to meet such wonderful friends in blog land. Love your pictures and all the goodies.

Mrs. C.... - August 6, 2010 - 11:25 pm

Cathy is amazing, and she is how I found you. I can not tell you how, I adore the polka dot flip flops with the polka dot glasses. Truly amazing. My Mom inherited a set of wine glasses with etched polka dots on them from a friend. They are from the 40’s and beautiful. Look forward to stopping by again.

I do so love Cathy’s blog as well. :)

I love your package of stuff. So fun!

And I love your images. I can’t think of anywhere nearby where I could see a view like that, so thank you for sharing with me.
