diptych {tired}

Cathy’s photo is on top; mine, on the bottom. Our theme is “tired”. ***** Those sweet angel babies! “Tired” is definitely appropriate… We just sent off the last of our July 4th visitors. Every July 4th, we try to get all of my husband’s family to come visit. It seems every other year, they all...

I can imagine it is quite a shock to go from a house bursting with people to not. Still, I think there must also be some small comfort to find things back to normal. Those must be very special times. I love your photos. That is a very tired time of day, for me, and beautiful and well. And those babies. LOL.. SO ADORABLE!

joann - July 15, 2010 - 8:25 pm

Sounds like you should have taken a picture of yourself!!
Those babies are so so delightful. I just want to kiss them. I LOVE IT!!!!

Cate - July 16, 2010 - 5:53 am

I know what it feels like to enjoy a full house – and then feel knackered when they’ve all gone!

Love the pics – and how tiny are those babes?

imoomie - July 19, 2010 - 1:21 am

Doesn’t everything seem so quiet when the relatives go home?!

I hope your time together was the stuff memories are made of…what fun.

Meme

Meet my niece, Meme. She’s been visiting for a while. Isn’t she beautiful? Smarter than she it that, too, so you can imagine. Except for the ‘enhance’ button in iphoto, this shot is SOOC. I couldn’t bear to mess with something so beautiful. ***** Of almost 2000 shots taken since July 1, this is my...

Those eyes, those eyes! Such a sweet face surrounded by all those curls. I wouldn’t have had the heart either to edit such perfection. Great shot, Patty!

SarahinSC - July 13, 2010 - 10:24 pm

Wow! SOOC! Beautiful pic!

Cate - July 14, 2010 - 1:51 am

My dear, you have excelled yourself – what a beautiful capture of a gorgeous girl!

Rebekah @ It Only Gets Better - July 14, 2010 - 2:36 am

Jenny - July 14, 2010 - 5:26 am

Wendy @ Almota Roses - July 14, 2010 - 7:30 pm

deb @ talk at the table - July 16, 2010 - 1:24 pm

with the colours and texture of the hat as a frame outside the frame of her locks…
this is pure art.

and those kissable cheeks ! !

I love your sense of full and tired above too.
I am so with you on this of late.
Life seems to have it’s seasons of .

I think of you always. Have a great and renewing weekend.

diptych {freedom}

My photo is on top; Cathy’s is on the bottom. Our theme is “Freedom”. ***** My photo was taken at Fort Moultrie, on Sullivan Island, in the Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. In 1776, nine British warships attacked this yet unfinished fort. Nine hours after the fight began, Charleston was safe from British occupation. {Nothing like...

in the hush of the moon - July 9, 2010 - 11:22 pm

this makes me think. thank you.

diptych {america}

Cathy’s gorgeous boots; my son’s baseball field, on that particular day, early in the morning. America This was by far, the hardest theme for me yet. I mean, what do I take a picture of to represent “America”? So many thoughts… So much to symbolize… So different for each of us. I thought about pulling...

we had similar thoughts racing in our minds, patty. even our project is American — we could choose ANY way to “illustrate” America. it’s funny how our minds went beyond the flag together — but separate!

Serline - July 1, 2010 - 12:20 pm

Yours is such a blessed nation, isn’t it? Hope to visit more often in the future…

Kellee - July 1, 2010 - 2:47 pm

This is really beautiful, Patty. I love how neither of you went for the obvious. For a flag pic, or anything like that. These images are both so American, and both so creative and unique. Love it!

Susan - July 1, 2010 - 6:48 pm

Patty…this was beautiful! Thank you sweet friend for your vision of America. I am with you in your definition. Love the pics. Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs!
Susan

red or gray - July 1, 2010 - 7:48 pm

you captured it …in the browns of the images with the details of Americana included…just a beautiful list of happy and humble!!

Gayle - July 2, 2010 - 12:25 am

Patty, another beautiful post! My America looks like yours, but you say it so much more beautifully!

MelodyA. - July 2, 2010 - 1:43 am

Well, I think the shot you chose is perfect. Perfect in the pair and perfect in the theme. Great job, team.

megan - July 2, 2010 - 4:02 pm

a lovely reminder for the upcoming weekend.

Se'lah - July 5, 2010 - 1:49 pm

Simply beautiful! What great mental images you evoke with your writing. Your photos are lovely. My fav is the boots. If they go missing of this page, I don’t have them. ;)

deb @ talk at the table - July 7, 2010 - 12:56 am

This was so good.
As a Canadian, there are some differences, but essentially,
we are so blessed .
We shouldn’t take it for granted. And we should wish it for everyone everywhere.

Cate - July 9, 2010 - 7:41 pm

And all of a sudden, early in the morning – I can access your site once more! And what I’ve missed – beautiful pictures, moving prose. Almost makes me want to move to America too! ;-)

diptych {water}

Cathy’s is on the left; mine, on the right. The theme is water. I have to remember to tell her about one of my favorite art projects (wind-chime or hanging art) with found sea-glass… I love all those soft, beachy colors found in both pics, don’t you? And the dichotomy of peaceful stillness in her...

Susan - June 24, 2010 - 1:22 pm

Hey! We will be at your house next weekend…after I collect the boys from mission camp and take child #1 for a college visit! Mercy! Getting old!

I LOVE these pictures! Awesome, awesome! Where in Tenn do y’all live? My in-laws are right outside of Knoxville. Planning a weekend trip there in a few weeks. Want to see the new and improved Cades Cove road–along with a gazillion tourists! Plan on taking the camera on bike for an 11 mile loop. Have I lost my mind?

Trying to talk hubby into at least thinking about a new lens!!! I really would like the canon 24-70! I checked prices yesterday. Mercy!! I’ll just keep on renting.

Enjoy your day! Thanks again for the great pics!
Hugs!
Susan

Kellee - June 24, 2010 - 2:00 pm

This looks like such a fun day! Your kids are lucky to have such fun and patient parents. (My mom was always cool having a friend along. She tried the group of kids a few times, and nearly had a heart attack. LOL)

I really love what you guys are doing with this project. And I, like you, can really appreciate the opposing viewpoints of water represented in this pairing. :)

Susan - June 24, 2010 - 2:23 pm

Those are awesome action photos! The kids are making wonderful memories they will be talking about well into their “grown-up” lives!

Cathy - June 24, 2010 - 5:19 pm

Love these shots, Patty! The one of your husband is a great shot and the second time I looked at it, I noticed the people reflected in his sunglasses! Funny we compared the calm and chaos (great brains think alike!). And yes, please share the art project with sea glass…right now it’s prettying some jars.

joann - June 24, 2010 - 9:23 pm

i love those photos. They need to be giant and in a frame.

in the hush of the moon - June 24, 2010 - 10:46 pm

yes. i love these photos too. you are such a great mama.

Serline - June 25, 2010 - 8:07 am

Looks like a great day of fun in the sun… My vote goes to your picture on the right ;-)

amydeanne - June 25, 2010 - 2:48 pm

wow! those are fantastic catches!

Gayle - June 25, 2010 - 5:50 pm

I wish the same for you!

Cate - June 27, 2010 - 5:17 am

So – you up for some visitors from freezing New Zealand???

imoomie - June 27, 2010 - 11:51 pm

Catching up with you at last!

I always enjoy these water pics…I end up smiling the whole time because it looks like so much fun is had by all!

Here’s to the peace and chaos of summer!
