Cathy‘s is on the left; mine is on the right. {Like my new boots??}

So this time, aside from the likeness in colors {her brown roof, my brown boots; the blue tarp and shirt, the blue sky},
I noticed the visual triangle
created by the blue tarp, the blue shirt and the blue sky.
This principle suggests that when elements appear in 3′s, the eye naturally follows the path created between them. This helps the eye to flow across the image.
There’s another design ‘rule’ that suggests you should never use more than 3 colors in your work, excluding neutrals. {Thank-goodness neutrals include not only white and black, but gray, brown and tan or khaki. Whew! I need more than 3 colors! I’m a very colorful girl!}
And you know the rule of thirds, right? This rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. {Wikipedia}
So there you go! 3 rules about 3′s to try as you shoot!
Do you have any more to share with us?
Any thing that you do or pay attention to as you shoot?

I hope you try these “rules” {I’m so not a rule follower!}, come back and link up tomorrow for my photo blog-hop:
