Photo a la {M}ode {7} :: Eclectic Whatnot Give-Away

Meet Ruthanne, she’s on the right:

And that’s Melissa from A Familiar Path on the left. I’m pretty sure she took Ruthanne’s photo, and vice versa. They’re friends IRL.

And I stole all three of these photos from Ruthanne’s blog, Eclectic Whatnot.

Ruthanne and Melissa are two bloggers I was so looking forward to meeting at Blissdom. Both are incredibly funny and sweet as the day is long.

Ruthanne is a crafty wizard, and she makes beautiful things with a sewing machine, some with ruffles and some without.

Her blog is clean and full of color and I love how she lets her personality shine through there.

So, especially for my friends who have been supporting Photo a la {M}ode, without further adieu, here’s the big announcement:

Pretty beautiful, hmm?

I’m particular to this one:

Image of Serendipity

It’s called Serendipity.

But you go pick out what you like.*

I’m also particular to these:

Also made by Ruthanne. The girl’s got talent!

I will draw a name from a hat and announce the winner here, next Wednesday. Here’s how to get your name in the hat more than once:

1. Enter a manual mode photo in today’s linky party. See how below. {3}

2. Write a post about this drawing at your blog by Friday and link back here. {2}

3. Tweet about this drawing and link to Finding Serendipity. {1}

4. Announce this drawing on Facebook and link to Finding Serendipity. {1}

5. Visit Ruthanne’s blog and tell her you are visiting from here. {1}

6. Leave me a comment below, and leave a comment for each of the above that you choose to do. {1}

It’s been raining an aweful lot here, but I know that will bring the flowers.
Can’t wait!

Here’s how you play Photo a la {M}ode:

1. Shoot something in manual mode and post it at your blog.

2. Include your settings; this is important, as the whole reason for this 52 week project is to learn how to shoot better in manual mode. You can find this information if you use Flickr by clicking on your camera name to the upper right side of the page when the page to that shot is open. It’s called “Exif Data”. Include ISO, aperture, and speed particularly. You can also include white balance and distance, and any other relevant info you like.

3. Link back to this link-up. You can use my button found in my footer if you like.

4. On most days, I will include tips for shooting better photos taken from whatever reading I’ve done that week {I’m trying SO HARD to get better!:)}. They might be simple or they might be technical, just depends!

5. And on some days, as I try to build interest in this linky party, we might do something fun, like this give-away.

Welcome to the party!
Hope you’ll be back next week!

{*The Nitty-Gritty :: This give-away is for one dSLR camera strap from Eclectic Whatnot. Entries will close this Sunday, March 2oth at midnight. Drawing will be announced here next Wednesday. Good luck!}

Now show me what you’ve shot:

Yippy Skippy, Hip, Hip Hooray! When you say, “Give Away” your talking something super fabulous! I am so excited to enter your give away and of course to participate in Photo a la {M}ode week 7. It’s hard to believe it is 7 weeks old already. Wow, time flies! OK so, I gonna have five entries in. I shouted to the roof tops about you on Monday and Tuesday too and will also link on Friday. And I will do Facebook shout out too. I have a Twitter account for my Josie-Bea Originals shop, so I think I will get on there too. Oh, and I will gladly stop by Ruthanne’s! I love her blog! Last but not least, girl you REALLY ROCKED the manual mode in that rain drop shot! That is AMAZING! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! You rock anyway, Miss Patty! So glad we’re friends!

I haven’t even tried manual mode on my camera yet. It is not a DSLR but I think before I move up I better learn what this camera can do first. My son loves to take pictures and he is so good. I have thought of taking a photography class with him as an elective next year. That could be fun.

Ruth - March 16, 2011 - 6:43 pm

I tweeted. I also realized that I didn’t include my settings. I’m sorry. I hope that doesn’t disqualify me….baby steps! :-)

I am entirely too distracted by the cookies. :)

I think I have similar bushes in my neighborhood, even including the raindrops!

deb @ talk at the table - March 17, 2011 - 2:04 am

don’t enter me , I sew . Well, I imagine Ruthanne sews . I putter. But I make camera straps .

But I love this post !

I will consider myself excluded from this competition because number one – I am horrible at photography and number two – I already won a prize from Patty’s blog :) so I am content with that. I am amazed at all the talent in the world of blogging. Thanks for sharing. And this photo makes rain seem “not so bad” after all.

Southern Gal - March 19, 2011 - 10:48 pm

Well, I totally forgot about this. So I’ll try to get something posted. Love the prize and the creator of it!

Love your photo.
