They Paved Paradise and Confessions of a Lost Blogger

+  Sometimes, we take pictures and don’t realize their significance until later…
+  Moments in time, moments that might never happen again,
+  I’m so grateful for all the photos I’ve taken of the field around the corner from my house.
The one I pass daily.
The one that has taught me to look more closely,
to be grateful for the small gifts of life,
to pay attention.
+  Spider webs, sparkly dew, flowers, weeds, birds, light, sunshine…
all used in metaphores for more meaningful, non-tangible gifts that exist…
friendship, love, parenting, family, faith, hope.

Because sometimes, things change.

This And That
A Rural Journal

I have been an aweful blogger for the last several months… I fight for these two nights to post-Mondays and Wednesdays-for my Tuesday and Thursday posts. I haven’t been by my most favorite blogs, maybe yours, for months. All these ideas, both in content and design, swirl in my head and never get placed here. I just hit a really crazy busy time in our lives, and my family remains my number one priority. I want to recommit to this space that is so meaningful to me, but I see no repreive in our schedule, no easing of tasks… really, only an uphill climb ahead.

I appreciate all of your comments more than you know. Those of you who have stuck around here, thank-you from the bottom of my tired heart! 🙂 I hope to post at least one more day weekly, with a little more personal content so we can get to know each other better again. And begining the first Friday in July, I plan to host a weekly themeless linky party… you just have to capture a moment of beauty and share it with us here… {We’ll have all weekend to be captivated by multiple moments of loveliness, and maybe a little more time to spend at each of your blogs.} I hope you’ll join me, and maybe share it with your readers.

One last thing! I have been totally swept away by Instagram. Especially with things so busy here, posting there eases some of my drive to blog. But it’s quicker, and it’s all about the pictures! If you have an iphone or android, I encourage you to get this FREE app and play along. I am “pattyx24” there-find me!  I took this photo in “my” magical field yesterday…

Buttons - That last photo is amazing it takes my breath away. I think blogging should not be about anything but enjoyment when it seems to be pressure we should walk away. Family is important. I am so happy you have found the balance.I love your photos. I am sure all who follow you will wait to read and see your beautiful blog. B

Tanya - oh beautiful pictures and true words. when we first moved her a few years ago, there was an old farmhouse that i’d pass every morning taking my little guys to school. it stood next to their school. i never got a picture of it and one day it was gone. there’s nothing there now and if you didn’t know that there once was a house there, you never would. i think about it still when i drive and try to see signs that it once existed!

Nancy - Totally understand about the time element and blogging. I find myself having to cut back on my posts because I can’t keep up with commenting and visiting.

Thank you for sharing at Rural Thursdays this week. xoxo

Suzanne - Patti, I cut down to
    one post a week and
    right now, it feels
    perfect for me as I
    am also in that crazy
    phase of life…

I need to get on Instagram.
    Seems like a lovely,
    creative outlet that
    doesn’t require the
    same time commitment
    as our blogs do!
